Colorado Rockies Win - Going To Tiebreaker

Colorado Rockies Win

My son and I headed down to the Rockies final regular season game with the Rockies needing a win combined with a San Diego lose to create a tie for the National League Wildcard game.

The San Diego Padres were playing the Brewers in Milwaukee and the game started an hour earlier. Before the Rockies even made the first pitch, the Padres were up 3-0. By the bottom of the second inning though, the Brewers went ahead 5-4 and never looked back.

The Rockies staring pitcher Ublado Jiminez pitched 5 scoreless innings before walking two batter in the Sixth. The Rockies reliever were a little shaky but got the job done. The 8th inning at Coors filed was awesome with a 3 run rally as the batting order went the heart of the lineup..Tulo, Holiday, Helton, Atkins, Hawpe, and company were up 4-1 and turned it over to Manny Corpas for the win.

Basically, the game was awesome and we won’t soon forget it. Go ROCKIES! Holliday for MVP.

Zilllow Gets $30 Million In Funding

Research Engine Comments Off

Having spent the last 10 years in online real estate marketing, I took notice of the fact that Zillow received additional funding and is now valued at around $300 million dollars.  Most notable is that this funding took place right now when the real estate market stinks….but it is often in a downturn when a company becomes a true market leader.  No matter what the investors are thinking, it appears Zillow definitely has some momentum with more than one million homeowners and agents ‘claiming’ homes on Zillow in what appears to be an user generated listing system built for advertising revenue.

Flickr Results On Yahoo Image Search

Web 2.0 Tools Comments Off

Search Yahoo Images for [google], and 70% (14 of 20) of the results are from Yahoo-owned Flickr*. Search for [google reader], and 100% of results are from Flickr. [horse], 25%. [matt cutts], 70%. [blogoscoped], 35%. In addition, all Flickr results will receive a special blue color for the Flickr user name. Not only does this make people stay longer on Yahoo properties, it also gives some additional incentive for webmasters to use Flickr… as a kind of Yahoo search engine optimization.

Internet Yellow Page Traffic Increases 46 Percent

Research Engine Comments Off

The number of searches conducted on Internet Yellow Page (IYP) sites increased by 27 percent in 2006 over the previous year. That’s according to research conducted by comScore for the Yellow Pages Association (YPA).

The growth is attributed to “investments publishers have been making in their IYP sites to make it better for customers as well as for advertisers,” said Norton. Investments include better mapping, comparison shopping, increased personalization, and the introduction of video.

The average number monthly searchers on this class of sites increased 46 percent in a year’s time. IYP pages saw 43.2 million searchers per month in 2005, and 63.1 million searchers per month in 2006.

Usage of the Internet Yellow Pages continues to rise. In the first six months of 2007, consumers conducted over 1.85 billion search queries on IYP sites, compared to 1.62 billion in the first six months of the previous year. The continued growth accounts for a 14 percent increase in search queries for the first half of the year.

While the Internet Yellow Pages saw growth in 2006, usage of print Yellow Pages declined 7.6 percent to 13.4 billion references, defined as the number of times consumers turned to the printed Yellow Pages books to find a listing. The data on print directories were provided by Knowledge Networks/SRI for the YPA.

The data were released by comScore from its panel of users. More than 15 Internet Yellow Pages sites were examined in the comScore study including Superpages.com, Yellowpages.com, and DexKnows.com.
